The thesis project consists  in the study of the properties of a sample of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) selected by Spoon et al. (2007)
on the basis of being obscured (deep Silicate feature at 9.7 micron) with little star formation (low 6.2 micron PAH equivalent width).
The X-ray data from Chandra, XMM-Newton and NuSTAR will provide information on the source spectral properties over a broad energy range and, in
particular, on the level of obscuration, while ALMA data will be used to investigate the presence of molecular gas. One of the primary goals of the project consists in the study of any possible link between the obscuration observed in X-rays with the gas traced in the host galaxy by ALMA.

Multi wavelengths properties study of a sample of obscured AGNs

Abstract

The thesis project consists in the study of the properties of a sample of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) selected by Spoon et al. (2007) on the basis of being obscured (deep Silicate feature at 9.7 micron) with little star formation (low 6.2 micron PAH equivalent width). The X-ray data from Chandra, XMM-Newton and NuSTAR will provide information on the source spectral properties over a broad energy range and, in particular, on the level of obscuration, while ALMA data will be used to investigate the presence of molecular gas.
